‘News items are accommodated on basis of importance’
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Taking strong exceptions to complaints by various associations and unions demanding that there press releases should be accommodated in front page, the press fraternity today said that space could be demanded only for advertisements and the news items are accommodated on the basis of its importance.
The press fraternity appealed to the civil society to understand the role and function of the Press and allow it to function as it ought to. Such coercion and demand is against the ethics of the media.
“Help us to work without any undue pressure as every page of any newspapers is read properly as proved by the fact that smallest mistake in any page is pointed out the next morning without any delay.”
Truck laden with illegal timber seized, driver arrested
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: A truck laden with illegal timber was seized by Namsai forest personnel during a routine patrolling in the wee hours of August 27 at Namsai area.
The forest personnel led by Rini Riba, DFO also arrested the driver and helper of the timber laden vehicle. Interrogation of the arrested driver and helper was on to trace the source of the illegal timber and the actual culprit behind the illegal trade. The illegally procured timber was being transported to Assam.
It is pertaining to mention here that the forest personnel of Namsai division had seized a mini truck laden with illegal timber on August 7. The DFO, while taking serious note of such illegal procurement and transportation of sawn timbers has ordered all the staff stationed at various forest gates under his division to be vigilant to stop illegal transportation of timber, informed, Rini Riba, Divisional Forest Officer, Namsai Forest Division.

While speaking in the Lok Adalat session, Dochora Lama, Member Secretary, DLSA, explained the participants the importance and purpose of the Lok Adalat and how compoundable and civil cases can be resolved immediately through it.
Tarin Dakpe, DC cum Chairman, District Legal Service Authority expressed his satisfaction for the interest shown by the people of the district to resolve their disputes through Lok Adalat. He appealed to the people of the district to come forward to take the advantage of Lok Adalat scheduled September 24, October 29, November 27 and December 30 for expeditious disposal of their pending cases through conciliatory settlement.
The other members of the Lok Adalat, who attended the sitting were Lod Tabyo, Inspector, OC, PS, Seppa, Jagu Gyadi, Advocate and Nama Dodum, Advocate.

ZPM asks for road renovation
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Claiming that torrential rain for the past few days has caused extensive landslide in Leporiang circle, ZPM, Leporiang Nabam Tara has requested the concerned authority to make ground assessment of the damage and to repair the portion accordingly.
In a release, it said, because of the damaged road, it is problematic for the people to negotiate from one place to another.
Union demands action
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Alleging that some individuals are involved in dismantling government quarters and building at Chayang Tajo, the All Pipu Chayang Tajo Gawe Purang Sawa Students Union (APCGSSU) has urged upon the East Kameng Deputy Commissioner to immediately look into the matter and arrest the miscreants involved.
In a release, it claimed that some miscreants are rampantly dismantling the Govt properties in order to occupy the land.
And despite of several reports made to the concern authorities, no concrete action has been made against it, it said.
It further appealed the local MLA to look into the infrastructural development of Chayang Tajo township as the administration has failed in its initiative in maintaining the infrastructure of town.
The township road which is more like a pond loaded with mud and silts since its excavation is yet to see any light of maintenance and completion, it further added.

Taking cognizance to the undue pressures by both the factions exerted on the media houses, both of them assured to discuss the issue with heads of both factions and convince them to refrain from such practice and allow the media persons to function without any disturbance.
Accepting the media basic that the Press is free what to publish or not, the DC asked the SP to act immediately so that there is neither any threat nor fear for them to work.
When apprised that various voluntary organizations with factional fights approach the media to decide their genuineness despite the fact that press persons are not the judges, the DC, in AAPPTF case, decided to hold a meeting with the registrar of societies along with the SP and law secretary tomorrow to review the entire issue.
The press fraternity decided to wait for tomorrow’s final outcome before taking any decision relating to AAPPTF.

First phase of sensitization cum training workshop ends
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: The first phase of training cum rural sensitization programme on the centrally sponsored flagship programmes covering Papum Pare, Lower Suansiri and Kurung Kumey districts concluded recently.
The programe involving elected panchayat leaders is being initiated by Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Tanga Byaling and conducted by the department of rural development in coordination with the department of Panchayati Raj and State Institute of Rural Development in phase manner. Entire districts of the state are likely to be covered under the sensitization programme.
The programme is being attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Project Director (DRDA), all district Heads of Offices, Panchayat members, BDO and other officers/officials of the line departments.
At Yupia, the programme was inaugurated by MP Takam Sanjoy on August 17 last. Both Sanjoy and Tanga Byaling addressed the training programme.
At Ziro, Parliamentary Secretary Padi Richo impressed upon the Panchayat leaders to take advantage of such programme which would be beneficial in their performance as PRI members.
Similarly, the programme at Kurung Kumey district was also attended by Lokam Tassar, Parliamentary Secretary, Deputy Commissioner and his brigade.
Taking cognizance of the importance of checking the revenue leakages of the Power Department, a similar programme was also organized at Ziro and Koloriang to which G. Doji, SE APEC V Ziro along with his subordinates joined and impressed upon the PRI members to extend their helping hand and educate the consumers to pay their electricity bill in time regularly to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

One of the most popular IWMP schemes being implemented in the State was also discussed in length during the sensitization programme.
While pointing out the National Food Security Ordinance which was recently launched by the Chief Minister in state, Byaling said it will ensure food for BPL Household family and all the MGNREGA job card holders will also get the benefit through the NFSO. He appealed to the elected PRI members irrespective of party affiliation to lend their helping hands. "Let us work together to eradicate the poverty and accelerate the pace of development in the state," he said.
He also appealed the MLAs of the districts to participate in the sensitization programme and offer valuable suggestions to make the programme a grand success.
Gyan Mission Orphanage kitchen gutted
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: The kitchen building, dining hall, store room including furniture and essential kitchen items of Gyan Mission Orphanage, Itanagar were completely reduced to ashes in a devastating fire which broke out at the orphanage campus at around 8 am here today morning.
Reportedly, the unfortunate incident happened so quick that nothing could be saved and by the time fire brigade reach to the spot the fire had already engulfed the entire kitchen building. However, there was no report of any casualty in the mishap. Cause of the fire is yet not known but sources from school claimed that it might be started from the fire wood which was kept in a wooden self near the kitchen.

ITANAGAR, Aug 28: The 138 Battalion of CRPF provided a water tanks (Syntex) worth Rs 50,000 to poor and needy people under civic action programme (CAP) at Ziro Stadium, Lower Subansiri yesterday.
Lower Subansiri deputy commissioner Marnya Ete, Nending Chattung, SDO, Ziro, Circle Officer, DCP, Deputy SP, ZPM, DIPRO of Ziro and civilians were present on the occasion.

Parents must maintain vigil
Dear Editor,
The molestation and rape of 14 minor girls at Likabali Green Valley School is shocking and condemnable in the strongest term. It is one of the rarest of the rare crime committed in the history of mankind and needs capital punishment preferably stone to death.
With great faith parents send their children in the hand of such man in the guise of living demons. The sentences quoted in IPc are not enough to punish these demons. They are to be handed over to the public for exemplary punishment.
I feel it may not be isolated incident. The girl’s boarding schools should be made access to Ngos/ human right organizations or any woman organizations, medical psychologist for time to time interaction with the girls. The parents are also to remain vigil and they should be able to read the swinging moods of their own child and take precautionary measures. Sex education to be given by the parent’s preferably by the mother to the daughter.
I am sorry for the traumatized children and praying almighty god to bless them.

Dear Editor,
In recent past rape or molestation against minor children are being reported or witness by our Arunachalee tribal society. It is hard to determine the root cause of this crime in our present society. Many Arunachalee believe that this crime is infected from other part of country. Some people blame that due rapid changes of social and influence of western culture is the root cause.
The subject of child abuse or molestation is still a taboo in our society for discussion. Part of course lies in the traditional conservative family and community structure that does not talk about the sex and sexualities at all. Parents, elders and teacher do not speak to children about the sexualities as well as physical and emotional changes that take during their growing years. As a result of this all form of sexual abuse that a child face does not get reported to anyone. This silence encourages the abuser and he gets embolden to continue the abuse and press this advantage. This is a high time for us to include Sex education in our family and education system
